Alternative Vacation Ownership - CondoHotels
| Is it a Condominium, or is it a Hotel, - it is both. Condo-Hotels (Condotels) are typically located in highly desirable vacation spots and owners essentially purchase one of the hotel's room/suites and use it when they want but also have the option of placing it in the hotel's rental managment program. A portion of the rent revenue the condotel generates goes to the hotel operator, and the balance goes to the owner, helping to defray the costs of ownership. It is the newest form of worryfree vacation ownership. NOTE: Condotels are not a timeshares you own the unit fully.
Condo-Hotels are made up of both new construction and renovated hotels or conversions. Many are new construction, but there are also some condo hotels that are conversions from existing hotels and resorts. Both types of hotels offer pros and cons in terms of operating history and terms of usage. While many owners like the fact that the conversion hotel has an estabished operating history, these hotels are older and may not offer some of the latest innovations and amenites of a newer construction. Additionally, the conversion may offer a more central location to popular attraction venues.
